REVIEW SHAMSHERA

**WHO SHOULD WATCH** – Only watch this if you haven’t experienced iconic films like *Avatar*, *KGF*, *RRR*, *Baahubali*, or *Thugs of Hindostan*.

**WHO SHOULD NOT WATCH** – Avoid it if you appreciate high-quality cinema or have already seen the films mentioned above.

**Complete Review:**

**Cinematography** – *5/5*
The visuals and color symmetry are stunning and worth watching.

**Narrative** – *2/5*
A weak mash-up of scenes from *Avatar*, *RRR*, *KGF*, and other popular South thrillers. Disappointing.

**Direction** – *2/5*
Karan Malhotra could be a distant Chopra relative, and that’s not a compliment.

**Background Music** – *5/5*
The eerie tune that plays when Sanjay Dutt appears is a highlight.

**Costumes** – *4/5*
Well done, but not enough to save the film.

**Cast** –
The movie only shines when Saurabh Shukla enters the screen. Sanjay Dutt’s character is reduced to a joke in the first half, though Ranbir Kapoor, Ronit Roy, Vaani Kapoor, and Sanjay Dutt manage to keep this sinking ship afloat. The plot is a mess, akin to a half-baked, mixed-flavor dish—confusing and unappetizing.

**Casting** – *2/5*
Sonu Sharma fails. Why does Iravati Harshe play Ranbir's wife? And how does Sanjay Dutt remain ageless after 25 years?

**Story** – *1/5*
Tragic. The creative team must have been binge-watching South Indian movies on something, because the script feels like it was hastily cobbled together overnight.

**Goofy Scenes** –
In one of the final scenes, after Sanjay Dutt’s team slaughters the British army, there’s a man lying beside Ranbir Kapoor who appears to be straining to keep his eyes shut, as though trying not to pee.

**Storyline** –
Completely illogical. Ranbir’s son emerges with the same face and name as his father, yet no one recognizes him, even when he mirrors his father’s actions. Just cut the rope on this one.

**Music** –
Not a single memorable tune. The songs don’t fit the narrative and seem shoehorned in to pad out the runtime.

**Songwriting** –
Sounds like a bad imitation of Javed Akhtar’s work, with nursery-rhyme-level lyrics like "patte, billi, kutte, socks, jutte." Yawn.

**Dialogues** –
Piyush Mishra (yes, the one from *Gangs of Wasseypur*) delivers subpar lines, better suited to a low-budget revenge Bhojpuri film.

**Overall** –
The only reason this movie gets an extra star is because my wife tolerated it long enough to watch it through. It felt like a painful operation called *Shamshera*. Oh, and what was up with the random crows?
